David L. Podnar, 80, of South Beaver Township, died on Friday, December 15, 2023, at Good Samaritan Hospice, Heritage Valley, Beaver.

David was born on Wednesday, February 10, 1943, in Beaver Falls, Pa. He is the son of the late George and Mary (Srmeg) Podnar.

Dave retired from ARCO Chemical Corporation as a superintendent. He was a parishioner at St. Monica Church of St. Augustine Parish. In his free time, Dave enjoyed wine-making, gardening, and woodworking. He also enjoyed gatherings with his neighbors but most of all, he cherished the precious moments that he spent with his family.

In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his loving wife of 59 years, Helen “Jean” Podnar on July 5, 2022; a daughter, Hope Marie Podnar; and a brother, Bob Podnar.

He is survived by his sons; Dave (Beth) Podnar and Dan (Debbie) Podnar; grandchildren, Charlotte (Mike) Hutter, Rachel (Kevin) Jewett, Joe Podnar, Kristin Podnar, and Ryan Podnar; great-grandchildren, Charlie, Piper, and Sam; a brother, Larry “Butch” (Diana) Podnar; a sister, Carol Podnar; a nephew, Brian (Rachel) Podnar; brother-in-law Dave Lopez, as well as his caregiver, Shelley, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Friends will be received on Saturday, January 6th from 10:30 AM until the time of departing prayers at 11:30 AM at the GABAUER-LUTTON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., Chippewa Twp., 117 Blackhawk Road, Beaver Falls.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at St. Monica Church of St. Augustine Parish, followed by prayers at Noon with Fr. Kim Schreck as the celebrant.

Private interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, New Brighton.
