I knew Tom but had no contact with him after high school. His name just popped into my head recently, and I googled his name, which surfaced Tom's obituary.  What I found included a few recent photos of him, and his smile and look were just as they were in our school years.  Also, the written comments by friends conveyed true warmth toward Tom.  Below is a picture and some comments on a site I found:

Tom was my hero and inspiration . I recently have undergone long term cancer treatments. Some much the same as Tom had to endure. He was the light for me. He got through it and so did I. His sense of humor was engaging.  I have known him for over 30 years and will still think of his courage and endurance daily. I still wear a jacket he gave me as a remembrance. God's rest Tom.   Ray Capela

Tom was a dear friend, like family to us,  for almost 50 years.  There are too many beautiful memories to share. We will miss him always.
