William R. Heistand, 70, of Chippewa Township, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 15, 2013, in Heritage Valley Beaver after fighting a courageous battle with lymphoma.

Born January 31, 1943, in Beaver Falls, he was the son of the late Ralph W. and Gwendolyn Lamp Heistand.  He was a member and trustee of the College Hill United Methodist Church.  He had been the Safety Supervisor at the former Babcock & Wilcox Tubular Products Company at the Beaver Falls and the Barberton plants.  He then became a consultant at Penn State Special Metals in Koppel.  He was a graduate of Beaver Falls High School, Class of 1961, and played left guard on the 1960 state championship football team.  He received a B.S. degree from Western State University in Gunnison, Colorado.  He assisted his wife Linda at numerous local craft shows.

Bill is survived by his wife of 49 years, Linda Harrison Heistand, three daughters and sons-in-law, Kristin and Brian McCarl, Lori and David Schibner, all of College Hill, Cheri and Greg Mihalik, Cranberry Township, four grandchildren, David and Gianna Schibner, and Gregory and Jessica Mihalik, Cranberry Township.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Kay Sonja Gault.

Friends will be received Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the Hill & Kunselman Funeral Home, www.hillandkunselman.com., 3801-Fourth Ave., College Hill, Beaver Falls, where the service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday with his pastor, Rev. Larry A. Reitz officiating.

Interment will follow in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park.
