About Bill , a great guy

We caught up with each other several times through life, he was always the same.. After school,we ran around in his 48 Ford and later in his 55 Ford Hdtp.  Bill  worked on a lot of cars for Woody's Garage at the bottom of Stefan's hill, large wooden building ,gone now.. I Used to do his homework for him since he worked 2 jobs After shool so his sick father and elderly mother could keep their house. He worked weekends at Woody's garage on 24th St and delivered restaurant supplies for TriState Equipment almost nightly, some weekends off we went to the oval track races with Woody in Heidelburg racetrack untill late at night, he was a kind, gentle guy for his 6'1" size and an excellent mechanic for being so young, I blew my neighbor's muffler fooling around Stefan Hill, turned the key off to get a back fire as it went through the underpass, something Bill alwys did, bad mistake if in a borrowed car.Bill was working late at Woody's where we took a Zerex can,(before plastics)  laid under the car, braised it closed, it lasted about a month when Carol Kountz told me she had blown her muffler, I , being the nice guy she lent her to car for dates, called bill, went to the junk yard at Shansky,s, got a used muffler, $3 (lot of lunch money) I was a hero, she was never the wiser. Bill's father died in Bill's Senior year and he got a full time job to support his mother and find a better place. He ended up having to quit school. Many memories of Bill. He worked for Ford as a Manager, and because of his manner, he was moved to many troubled dealerships to reorganize their Service Departments, I'll never forget his phrases like "not to worry man" or "OK Dad, we got this". He used "Dad" and "man" in talking to people in such a way it was eloquent. Great guy, always will miss him, and never forget all the good times.

Note: 2021 was invited to class of 60 Pizza party at Patterson Country Club by Brother John, while sitting and talking to Donnie Garvin when someone asked me if I was Del and  a friend of Bill williamson, I was floored , it was his wife Betty Hahn , I'd tried to contact someone in his family for years, I had missed meeting her at an earlier Class of 60 get together with my brother, she had been sitting across from us talking to Sandy Eisler, Rick Callahan's wife. Great inner feelings to see her and talk about Bill, I'm sure a partnership in life loved and well lived.

I do not remember William Williamson, but Del Iben posted really thoughtful memories of him and it sounds like he was a very special friend.  I am sorry for his loss to his loved ones.
